AbstractAn electrically conductive fabric for use in articles of clothing worn for shielding against electromagnetic radiation includes a knit body with a first broad surface and an opposite, second broad surface where at least one of the surfaces includes a fleece or raised surface. The conductive fabric further includes stitch yarns of electrically conductive fibers and loop yarns comprising non-conductive fibers. The non-conductive fibers of the loop yarns are finished upon at least one of the first broad surface and second broad surface to form the fleece or raised surface, with electrically conductive fibers of the stitch yarns being embedded among the non-conductive fibers and between and spaced from the first and the second broad surfaces. | InventorsApplicationNo. 10349554 filed on 01/23/2003US Classes:66/202, Materials66/170, Articles66/171, Garments66/194, Fleece or pile type66/136, Plating219/545Resistive element interwoven with fabric supportField of Search66/202, Materials66/170, Articles66/171, Garments66/191, Fleece or pile type66/192, Warp66/193, With crochet stitch66/194, Fleece or pile type66/195, Warp442/316, Including a free metal or alloy constituent442/312, Knit fabric is characterized by a particular or differential knit pattern other than open knit fabric or a fabric in which the strand denier is specified442/132, Radiation reflective442/133Radiation absorptiveExaminersPrimary: Worrell, DannyAttorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References3164480, 4030892, Flexible electromagnetic shield comprising interlaced glassy alloy filamentsIssued on: 06/21/1977 Inventor: Mendelsohn , et al.4322232, Filter bag and method for suppressing electrostatic charges Issued on: 03/30/1982 Inventor: Beane4572960, Use of metallized knitted net fabrics for protection against microwave radiation Issued on: 02/25/1986 Inventor: Ebneth , et al.4923741, Hazards protection for space suits and spacecraft Issued on: 05/08/1990 Inventor: Kosmo, et al.5073984, Simple protective clothing for shielding from electromagnetic wave Issued on: 12/24/1991 Inventor: Tone, et al.5103504, Textile fabric shielding electromagnetic radiation, and clothing made thereof Issued on: 04/14/1992 Inventor: Dordevic5275861, Radiation shielding fabric Issued on: 01/04/1994 Inventor: Vaughn5569877, Sewn material and method for shielding against electromagnetic waves Issued on: 10/29/1996 Inventor: Yumi5578359, Magnetic shielding garment for electro-biologic measurements Issued on: 11/26/1996 Inventor: Forbes, et al.5603514, Circular warp-knit electromagnetic emission-shielding gasket Issued on: 02/18/1997 Inventor: Jencks, et al.5948708, Vapor protection suit and fabric having flash fire resistance Issued on: 09/07/1999 Inventor: Langley5968854, EMI shielding fabric and fabric articles made therefrom Issued on: 10/19/1999 Inventor: Akopian, et al.6077793, Method for producing elastic protective material and elastic protective material Issued on: 06/20/2000 Inventor: Hatjasalo, et al.6160246, Method of forming electric heat/warming fabric articles Issued on: 12/12/2000 Inventor: Rock, et al.6160248, Device for electro-inductive hardening of bearing surfaces and transition radii in crankshafts Issued on: 12/12/2000 Inventor: Ottenwaelder, et al.6215111, Electric heating/warming fabric articles Issued on: 04/10/2001 Inventor: Rock, et al.6307189, Electric heating/warming fabric articles Issued on: 10/23/2001 Inventor: Rock, et al.6373034, Electric heating/warming fabric articles Issued on: 04/16/2002 Inventor: Rock, et al.6414286Electric heating/warming fibrous articles Issued on: 07/02/2002 Inventor: Rock, et al.
