AbstractAudio apparatus comprises a base unit including circuitry for generating electrical signals representing sounds and at least one earphone adapted to receive the electrical signals and to reproduce sounds represented by the signals, in which the apparatus is provided externally with a terminal arranged so that it can be positioned in use in contact with or in close proximity to the surface of the user's body. The circuitry is arranged to supply to the terminal signals which are transmitted through the user's body, the or each earphone is provided with a terminal arranged so that it can be positioned in use in contact with or in close proximity to the surface of the user's body so as to receive signals transmitted from the terminal through the user's body, and the or each earphone includes receiving circuitry arranged to receive the signals. The earphones may be embodied in a pair of spectacles, and may be adjustable between a first position behind the ear and a second position in or more adjacent the ear. | InventorApplicationNo. 913046 filed on 08/19/1997US Classes:381/374, Particular support structure381/151, Body contact wave transfer (e.g., bone conduction earphone, larynx microphone)381/315, Remote control, wireless, or alarm381/326, Non-air-conducted sound delivery455/100, Body attached or connected455/269, With wave collector (e.g., antenna)600/25SURGICALLY IMPLANTED VIBRATORY HEARING AIDField of Search600/25, SURGICALLY IMPLANTED VIBRATORY HEARING AID381/326, Non-air-conducted sound delivery381/316, Frequency transposition381/151, Body contact wave transfer (e.g., bone conduction earphone, larynx microphone)381/315, Remote control, wireless, or alarm381/311, Wireless or for use in diverse381/309, Stereo earphone381/15, AM or both AM and angle final modulation381/16, Having transmitter381/71.2, Acoustic, nonairborne vibration sensing or counterwave emission381/380, Ear insert or bone conduction455/269, With wave collector (e.g., antenna)455/100Body attached or connectedExaminersPrimary: Woo, StellaAssistant: Harvey, Dionne Attorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References3629521, 4067342, Tape electrodeIssued on: 01/10/1978 Inventor: Burton4440160, Self-injurious behavior inhibiting system Issued on: 04/03/1984 Inventor: Fischell , et al.4845751, Wireless stereo headphone Issued on: 07/04/1989 Inventor: Schwab4901355, Combination multiple supported variable position audio intake control devices Issued on: 02/13/1990 Inventor: Moore5012520, Hearing aid with wireless remote control Issued on: 04/30/1991 Inventor: Steeger5095382, Wireless headphone Issued on: 03/10/1992 Inventor: Abe5247293, Signal reproducing apparatus Issued on: 09/21/1993 Inventor: Nakagawa5265168, Hearing aid Issued on: 11/23/1993 Inventor: Schiess, et al.5491507, Video telephone equipment Issued on: 02/13/1996 Inventor: Umezawa, et al.5579400, Headphones Issued on: 11/26/1996 Inventor: Ballein5608808, Audio-adapted eyeglass retainer Issued on: 03/04/1997 Inventor: da Silva5724667, Portable telephone having removable transducer Issued on: 03/03/1998 Inventor: Furuno5815579Portable speakers with phased arrays Issued on: 09/29/1998 Inventor: Boyden Foreign Patent References
