AbstractAn eye shielding system is provided that permits a disposable, air-permeable shield to be releasably secured to the frame of eyeglasses or goggles. A shield is provided that encloses the area between the face and the frame. The eyeglasses or goggles retain lenses or an eye shield to prevent debris or contaminants from reaching the eyes, and have a frame, and temple connectors. The frame provides support for the shield. The forward part of the shield is fitted to the rear side of the frame, and is reversibly retained thereby. The shield extends rearwardly, and seals with the face of the wearer. The shield allows air to pass through it in order to inhibit fogging up of the eyeglasses, but resists passage of sprayed liquids or solids, to prevent airborne liquid or solid debris or contaminants, including those contacting the face, from coming into contact with the eyes. | InventorApplicationNo. 128919 filed on 08/04/1998US Classes:351/47, Removable and/or adjustable filters or screens (e.g., clip-on type)351/44With antiglare or shadingField of Search351/47, Removable and/or adjustable filters or screens (e.g., clip-on type)351/48, Spring biased351/57, With auxiliary lenses movable in and out of the optical path (e.g., clip-on type attachments)351/58, Spring biased or secured by friction members351/41, SPECTACLES AND EYEGLASSES351/158, Combined351/44, With antiglare or shading2/12, Shades2/13Spectacle attachmentsExaminersPrimary: Dang, Hung XuanAttorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent ReferencesRe34512, 4245630, Tearable composite strip of materialsIssued on: 01/20/1981 Inventor: Lloyd , et al.4614183, Adhesive film dressing Issued on: 09/30/1986 Inventor: McCracken , et al.4781956, Interior trim component for a motor vehicle Issued on: 11/01/1988 Inventor: Zimmermann , et al.4785481, Eye protection device Issued on: 11/22/1988 Inventor: Palmer, III , et al.4837062, Pressure-sensitive adhesive coated sheets and tape pad with easily separable tabs Issued on: 06/06/1989 Inventor: Dunshee , et al.5019071, Adhesive fastening tab Issued on: 05/28/1991 Inventor: Bany, et al.5243711, Protective eye shield Issued on: 09/14/1993 Inventor: Graham5282791, Device to secure a surgical instrument and method Issued on: 02/01/1994 Inventor: Lipton, et al.5300963, Structure for attaching member for protecting eyes from wind and dust Issued on: 04/05/1994 Inventor: Tanaka5339119, Eye protection device comprising a foam rubber-like resilient insert member Issued on: 08/16/1994 Inventor: Gardner5388269, Eye shielding apparatus and method Issued on: 02/14/1995 Inventor: Griffin5520629, Combined adhesive strip and transparent dressing delivery system Issued on: 05/28/1996 Inventor: Heinecke, et al. 5548351, 5611356, Surgical drapes having tape attachment strips Issued on: 03/18/1997 Inventor: Rothrum5614963Sun shield system for protecting the eyes from UV and infrared components of sunlight Issued on: 03/25/1997 Inventor: Parker International ClassG02C 009/00 |
