AbstractA Universal Serial Bus node having a non-volatile memory is preprogrammed with the data bits necessary to configure an attached state machine to become a translator or modified translator for signals from a computer peripheral device. On startup, the Universal Serial Bus node is configured to translate signals to and from the computer peripheral device into USB protocol signals to and from a Universal Serial Bus equipped computer in order to assure proper communication therebetween. | InventorApplicationNo. 040110 filed on 03/17/1998US Classes:710/305, Bus interface architecture710/63, Universal710/64Via common units and peripheral-specific unitsField of Search710/100, INTRASYSTEM CONNECTION (E.G., BUS AND BUS TRANSACTION PROCESSING)710/104, System configuring710/63, Universal710/64, Via common units and peripheral-specific units710/72, Application-specific peripheral adapting710/3, Input/Output addressing712/37, Programmable (e.g., EPROM)345/156, DISPLAY PERIPHERAL INTERFACE INPUT DEVICE345/168, Including keyboard709/231, Computer-to-computer data streaming370/257, In a bus system370/364, Having plural buses370/912PACKET COMMUNICATIONSExaminersPrimary: Ray, Gopal C.Attorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References5396639, One chip microcomputer having programmable I/O terminals programmed according to data stored in nonvolatile memoryIssued on: 03/07/1995 Inventor: Suenaga, et al.5485590, Programmable controller communication interface module which is configurable by a removable memory cartridge Issued on: 01/16/1996 Inventor: Hyatt, et al.5623686, Non-volatile memory control and data loading architecture for multiple chip processor Issued on: 04/22/1997 Inventor: Hall, et al.5659801, Method and apparatus for replacing resident peripheral device control microcode by download via an application program Issued on: 08/19/1997 Inventor: Kopsaftis5784581, Apparatus and method for operating a peripheral device as either a master device or a slave device Issued on: 07/21/1998 Inventor: Hannah5818948, Architecture for a universal serial bus-based PC speaker controller Issued on: 10/06/1998 Inventor: Gulick5841424, USB to multiple connect and support bays for peripheral devices Issued on: 11/24/1998 Inventor: Kikinis5859993, Dual ROM microprogrammable microprocessor and universal serial bus microcontroller development system Issued on: 01/12/1999 Inventor: Snyder5914877USB based microphone system Issued on: 06/22/1999 Inventor: Gulick International ClassesG06F 013/10G06F 013/40 G06F 015/17 G06F 003/00 |
