AbstractA process for applying a defined surface roughness to a metal strip, especially steel strip, for preventing the sticking of strip during subsequent annealing in a bell-type annealing installation includes cold rolling the metal strip in at least one reversing roll stand. The cold rolled metal strip is then guided to a temper rolling stand for wet rolling the cold rolled metal strip through at least one pass for applying the defined surface roughness to the metal strip. For this purpose, the flattening rolls of the temper rolling stand are replaced with rough rolls. | InventorAssigneeApplicationNo. 187174 filed on 11/05/1998US Classes:72/229, To reverse-roll the workpiece72/200With modification or control of temperature of work, tool or machineField of Search72/199, BY USE OF ROLLER OR ROLLER-LIKE TOOL-ELEMENT72/200, With modification or control of temperature of work, tool or machine72/201, Including cooling72/229, To reverse-roll the workpiece72/236, With cleaning or conditioning of tool, or lubrication of tool or machine72/234, Including successively-acting roller-couples72/39, WITH CLEANING, DESCALING, OR LUBRICATION OF WORK OR PRODUCT72/40, Mechanical cleaning72/41, Lubricating72/365.2, "Rolling"72/366.2, Between disclosed rollers72/252.5, Roller or roller-like tool-element of particular configuration148/650, With working at or below 120`C or unspecified cold working148/651, Heating step follows cold working148/547, With tempering, ageing, solution treating (i.e., for hardening), precipitation hardening or strengthening, or quenching148/548With tempering, ageing, solution treating (i.e., for hardening), precipitation hardening or strengthening, or quenchingExaminersPrimary: Butler, RodneyAttorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References2914974, 3950191, Cold rolled steel sheets having an excellent enamelability and a method for producing said cold rolled steel sheetsIssued on: 04/13/1976 Inventor: Ito , et al.4435970, Roll changing device for rolling mill Issued on: 03/13/1984 Inventor: Sekiya4657685, Emulsion type liquid lubricant for metal forming, process for preparing the lubricant and process for metal forming with the lubricant Issued on: 04/14/1987 Inventor: Uematsu , et al.5555756, Method of lubricating steel strip for cold rolling, particularly temper rolling Issued on: 09/17/1996 Inventor: Fischer, et al.5806359Optimized operation of a two stand reversing rolling mill Issued on: 09/15/1998 Inventor: Hequet Foreign Patent References
