International ClassA61F 002/42AbstractA great toe implant for replacement of a portion of the proximal phalanx has a substantially reniform bearing surface, providing a recess on the lower edge for receiving the flexor hallucis longus tendon once implanted. Retaining portions (such as small spikes) provided on the rear face of the implant engage the proximal phalanx, preventing rotation of the implant with respect to the proximal phalanx once the implant is surgically implanted.
