Abstract

A cathode for use in an electrochemical cell having an anode and an electrolyte. The cathode includes a manganese dioxide active material and an additive which includes at least one of SnO2, Fe2 O3 -TiO2, TiO2 (P-25), BaTiO3, K2 TiO3, Nb2 O5, or SnO. The cathode of the present invention is particularly adapted for use in an electrochemical cell having a zinc anode and an alkaline electrolyte.
