Abstract

The invention relates to alkaline cells containing manganese dioxide cathode active material. A substance selected from the group of compounds CaWO4, MgTiO3, BaTiO3, CaTiO3, ZnMn2 O4, and Bi12 TiO20 is added to the cathode of conventional alkaline cells typically having an anode comprising zinc and cathode comprising manganese dioxide and an alkaline electrolyte. The additive increases the service life of the cell.
