AbstractA system for delivering both adhesive strips and transparent dressings to a patient. The adhesive strip or strips are provided with tab means for enhanced handleability and easy removal of the adhesive strip, and are releasably adhered directly to either the release liner or carrier layer of the transparent dressing. Preferably, the tab means is an integral part of one of the layers provided for delivery of the thin film dressing. Specifically, either the release liner or the carrier layer is provided as separately removable portions, and the adhesive strip is attached to the release liner or the carrier layer across the adjoining edge of these portions to allow removal of one portion from the balance of the composite at a time. When one portion is so removed, the adhesive strip is also removed and remains attached to that removed portion. The adhesive strip may then be easily handled for delivery to the desired site on the patient. | InventorsApplicationNo. 932616 filed on 08/20/1992US Classes:602/57, System for adhesive layer release (e.g., release sheet)206/441, Short strip type602/58, Backing layer having particular structural feature (e.g., permeability, shaped, or elasticity, etc.)604/180, Adhesive securing meansD24/189Bandage for protection or treatment (53)Field of Search128/849, Drapes128/853, Fenestrated128/854, With cover (flap)128/888, Wound shields (e.g., vaccination)128/887, Nonabsorbent body opening occluders, seals, or supporters (e.g., surgical or natural orifice occluders)602/57, System for adhesive layer release (e.g., release sheet)602/58, Backing layer having particular structural feature (e.g., permeability, shaped, or elasticity, etc.)602/41, BANDAGE STRUCTURE602/42, Skin laceration or wound cover604/180, Adhesive securing means604/307, Adhesively attachable to body206/440, Bandage, drape or dressing206/441Short strip typeExaminersPrimary: Prebilic, Paul B.Attorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References3899077, 4094316, Adhesive bandage with reusable appliqueIssued on: 06/13/1978 Inventor: Nathanson4499896, Reservoir wound dressing Issued on: 02/19/1985 Inventor: Heinecke4600001, Combined wound dressing and delivery means composite Issued on: 07/15/1986 Inventor: Gilman4614183, Adhesive film dressing Issued on: 09/30/1986 Inventor: McCracken , et al.4669458, I.V. holder Issued on: 06/02/1987 Inventor: Abraham , et al.4743232, Package assembly for plastic film bandage Issued on: 05/10/1988 Inventor: Kruger4753232, Adhesive wound dressings Issued on: 06/28/1988 Inventor: Ward4832008, Wound dressing with release sheets strip Issued on: 05/23/1989 Inventor: Gilman4884563, Non-stretching wound dressing and method for making same Issued on: 12/05/1989 Inventor: Sessions4917112, Universal bandage with transparent dressing Issued on: 04/17/1990 Inventor: Kalt5018516, Delivery system for a wound dressing Issued on: 05/28/1991 Inventor: Gilman5035687, Adhesive dressings Issued on: 07/30/1991 Inventor: Sandbank5061258, Vapor permeable dressing with releasable medication Issued on: 10/29/1991 Inventor: Martz5160315Combined adhesive strip and transparent dressing delivery system Issued on: 11/03/1992 Inventor: Heinecke, et al.
