International ClassB01D 017/038AbstractA method of washing salvaged blood includes separating higher density blood components from lower density blood components within a rotating centrifuge bowl. The separated blood components are washed with wash solution to remove free hemoglobin (Hgb), anticoagulant, cellular debris and other undesirable elements from the blood components. The previously separated blood components are re-suspended by braking the rotation of the centrifuge bowl to release the free Hgb, and other undesirable elements trapped in the red blood cell layer. The higher density blood components are then re-separated from the lower density blood components within the centrifuge bowl. The re-separated blood components are again washed with wash solution to further remove free Hgb and other undesirable elements from the blood components.Field of SearchWITH ALARM, INDICATOR, REGISTER, RECORDER, SIGNAL OR INSPECTION MEANSTransparent AUTOMATIC CONTROL TANGENTIAL FLOW OR CENTRIFUGAL FLUID ACTION Turbidity or optically sensing Cyclonic, or centrifugal (e.g., whirling or helical motion or by vortex, etc.) Isolating layer Biological fluid (e.g., blood, urine, etc.) Centrifugal extractor Blood CONSTITUENT MIXTURE VARIATION RESPONSIVE WITH MEANS TO ADD TREATING MATERIAL With rotation brake WITH CONDITION RESPONSIVE MEANS PROCESS For controlling drive of (a) bowl or (b) driven means within bowl INCLUDING SPECIFIC DEVICE OR STRUCTURE FOR DRIVING OR CONTROLLING BOWL In response to level of liquid-type material in bowl or in reservoir for supplying bowl Including centrifuge Measuring optical property by using ultraviolet, infrared, or visible light Absorbance or transmittance Utilizing a centrifuge or compartmented rotor OPTICAL RESULT Liberation or purification of sample or separation of material from a sample (e.g., filtering, centrifuging, etc.) |
