AbstractAn immaterial fish fence is based on a combination of low frequency mechanical vibrations and synchronously modulated electric fields, where fish approaching the fence will be given at the same time fear reactions and directional information by mechanical vibrations, and in addition will feel pain due to the electric field. The fish will then turn and swim away. The fence is implemented by means of columns positioned side by side, each comprising a number of low frequency transducers suspended above each other, each column being suspended in a float. Each column also has two electrical conductors to which a high voltage can be delivered. Thus, synchronized fields of both acoustic and electric type can be generated between and around the columns. | InventorApplicationNo. 167991 filed on 02/23/1994US Classes:119/220Electric typeField of Search119/219, Fish diverter or barrier119/220, Electric type367/139, Animal control43/17.1Electric current or sonic wave energyExaminersPrimary: Swiatek, Robert P.Attorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References948355, 1515547, 2146105, 2485660, 2709984, 2745205, 2836735, 3180047, 3363356, 4646276, Acoustic fish behavioral control deviceIssued on: 02/24/1987 Inventor: Kowalewski , et al.4758318, Method for improvement of soil Issued on: 07/19/1988 Inventor: Yoshida4825810, Electric barrier for fish Issued on: 05/02/1989 Inventor: Sharber4869016, Marine biofouling reduction Issued on: 09/26/1989 Inventor: Diprose , et al.5270912, Electrofishing apparatus and method Issued on: 12/14/1993 Inventor: Sharber, et al.5289133Power density methods for electroshocking Issued on: 02/22/1994 Inventor: Kolz Foreign Patent References
