20-substituted pregnene derivatives and their use as androgen synthesis inhibitors
Patent 5264427 Issued on November 23, 1993. Estimated Expiration Date: January 29, 2012. Estimated Expiration Date is calculated based on simple USPTO term provisions. It does not account for terminal disclaimers, term adjustments, failure to pay maintenance fees, or other factors which might affect the term of a patent.
514/177, Oxygen double bonded to a ring carbon of the cyclopentanohydrophenanthrene ring system552/601, Unsaturation between the 4- and 5-position (e.g., desoxycorticosterones, etc.)552/602Additional unsaturation in the cyclopentanohydrophenanthrene ring system
Novel 20-substituted-pregnene derivatives, compositions containing such derivatives and methods for their use and manufacture are disclosed. The 20-substituted-pregnene derivatives inhibit the androgen biosynthesis enzymes 17(alpha)-hydroxylase/C17,20 -lyase and 5(alpha)-reducatase and are therefore useful for reducing or inhibiting production of androgens where they have an adverse role in a disease or physiological condition in vertebrate species.
