Abstract

A fibrous heating element having an electrical resistance of 1 to 100 Ω/m is prepared by coating a core fiber, preferably a yarn, with one or more electroconductive layers consisting of a polyurethane resin having carbon particles dispersed therein. The fibrous element is pliable and can be knit or woven into a fabric, and is particularly suitable for use in an electric heating blanket or in an industrial heating element.
