AbstractAn electrodeless lamp system and method for providing light output having a controlled spectral distribution. A lamp having a fill which is not fully vaporized at the lamp operating temperature and which emits in a characteristic region of the spectrum is used. A function generator generates a function signal, and the magnitude of the lamp output in the characteristic region or the ratio of such magnitude and a magnitude in a different characteristic region is compared with the function signal. The difference signal is used to control the amount of cooling gas which is incident on the lamp bulb to control the spectral distribution of the radiation which is emitted by the lamp. | InventorAssigneeApplicationNo. 344863 filed on 04/17/1989US Classes:315/117, Automatic control of the temperature modifier315/151, Load device irradiating the radiant energy responsive device315/248, Induction-type discharge device load315/326, DISCHARGE DEVICE LOAD315/344Electromagnetic influenced discharge deviceField of Search315/248, Induction-type discharge device load315/117, Automatic control of the temperature modifier315/118, Load device circuit controlled by the temperature modifying medium315/326, DISCHARGE DEVICE LOAD315/344, Electromagnetic influenced discharge device315/112, WITH LOAD DEVICE TEMPERATURE MODIFIER315/151, Load device irradiating the radiant energy responsive device313/13Having control means for the temperature modifierExaminersPrimary: LaRoche, Eugene R.Assistant: Neyzari, Ali Attorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References3604500, 3786308, 4256404, Optoelectronic feedback control for a spectrometerIssued on: 03/17/1981 Inventor: Walker4431947, Controlled light source Issued on: 02/14/1984 Inventor: Ferriss , et al.4449821, Process colorimeter Issued on: 05/22/1984 Inventor: Lee4485332, Method & apparatus for cooling electrodeless lamps Issued on: 11/27/1984 Inventor: Ury , et al.4695757Method and apparatus for cooling electrodeless lamps Issued on: 09/22/1987 Inventor: Ury , et al.
