International ClassH04B 011/16AbstractA broadcast receiver is capable of selecting a broadcast station based upon a user selected program format and the geographical location of the receiver. The receiver includes a memory storing a database of information relating to frequencies of broadcast stations broadcasting into particular geographical locations and the program format of each such broadcast frequency. After a user inputs the geographical location of the receiver and a desired program format, the database may be scanned to select a broadcast frequency corresponding to the input geographical location and program format for retrieval. This selected frequency is used to tune the receiver. The geographical location, identification information, and program format for the selected frequency are then visually displayed. | |
