A pair of arms is pivotally mounted on opposed ends of the container. The lid member is pivoted relative to its rear edge to the upper ends of the arms. The arms are of a length and so mounted to the container ends that the lid can be moved between a closed position and an open position with the front edge of the lid sliding along the upper edges of the container ends. A pair of springs connected between each arm and the container assists pivotal movement of the arms relative to the container during sliding movement of the lid across the container opening. When the container is inverted for emptying, the lid pivots relative to the arms to facilitate discharge of waste from the container. | |
