The safety shield includes a multiplicity of projections that extend relatively inward to engage with a tobacco element and support it in coaxially spaced relationship to the wall of the tubular shield, thereby resulting in an annular chamber enabling essentially uninhibited and free circulation of air. Forming of the projections results in the concurrent formation of the like number of apertures in the shield wall with these apertures effectively disposed to face in a generally axial direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the shield while enabling free airflow. | |
