The pad is composed of an outer impervious backing sheet, an inner absorbent layer, and a body-side permeable web. The impervious backing sheet is of greater dimensions than the absorbent and is folded over the permeable web and absorbent layer and fastened to the permeable web. Further, at least a portion of the folded-over portion is elasticized at a distance spaced from the absorbent material such that when the elastic contracts, the pad bows with the elasticized fold raising above the surface of the pad to form a baffle.
