AbstractDisclosed is an electronic automatic control method and system for controlling an air flow rate for an internal combustion engine of an automotive vehicle. The system includes an open loop control and a feedback control which are selectively effected corresponding to engine condition. The system includes an engine or temperature range within which the system controls engine speed. The given temperature range corresponds to a normal ambient temperature range so as to improve warming up efficiency upon starting engine under cold engine conditions. The system further includes a means for determining a feedback control condition to effect feedback control at a specific engine condition. In the feedback condition, the variable rate of a control duty cycle pulse which is applied to an electrically operative air flow rate adjusting means, is determined corresponding to an actual engine speed and a difference between the actual engine speed and a reference engine speed determined corresponding to the engine or coolant temperature. | InventorAssigneeApplicationNo. 06/346377 filed on 02/05/1982US Classes:123/339.17, Air conditioner operating mode responsive (i.e., compressor on-off)123/339.23, Controlling throttle bypass123/339.28, Having valve controlled vacuum actuator123/349Having condition responsive means with engine being part of a closed feedback system (e.g., cruise control)Field of Search123/395, Open loop condition responsive123/349, Having condition responsive means with engine being part of a closed feedback system (e.g., cruise control)123/585, Auxiliary air or oxygen added to combustible mixture123/586, Oxidant controlled by throttle123/587, Oxidant controlled by intake manifold vacuum123/588, Oxidant controlled by engine temperature123/325Deceleration responsive cutoff of fuel to engine (e.g., pollution control)ExaminersPrimary: Nelli, Raymond A.Attorney, Agent or FirmUS Patent References4167396, Air-to-fuel ratio feedback control system with improved transitions between opening and closing of feedback control loopIssued on: 09/11/1979 Inventor: Kondo , et al.4170201, Dual mode hybrid control for electronic fuel injection system Issued on: 10/09/1979 Inventor: Camp , et al.4186691, Delayed response disabling circuit for closed loop controlled internal combustion engines Issued on: 02/05/1980 Inventor: Takase , et al.4191051, Engine idling speed control signal generator Issued on: 03/04/1980 Inventor: Kawata , et al.4237838, Engine air intake control system Issued on: 12/09/1980 Inventor: Kinugawa , et al.4240145, Closed loop controlled auxiliary air delivery system for internal combustion engine Issued on: 12/16/1980 Inventor: Yano , et al.4244023Microprocessor-based engine control system with acceleration enrichment control Issued on: 01/06/1981 Inventor: Johnson International ClassesF02D 31/00 (20060101)F02D 41/00 (20060101) F02D 41/26 (20060101) F02M 3/00 (20060101) F02M 3/07 (20060101) Foreign Application Priority Data1979-04-24 JP |
