The fixed electromagnets are alternately energized to effect large repulsion forces between the fixed electromagnets and the reciprocating electromagnet pistons. Secondary coils carried by the fixed electromagnets cause electrical energy induced therein during reciprocation of the pistons to be fed back to the d.c. source supplying energy to the primary coils of the fixed electromagnets. A crankshaft driven rotor bearing permanent magnets develop signals within stationary pick-up coils for controlling switches for timed energization of the primary coils of the fixed electromagnets. | |
