The plunger of a hydraulic jack is connected directly to the blade, independently of the blade carrier, for swinging the blade to shear a tree. The force applied by the jack to the blade is applied in the plane of the blade. To prevent excess stress from being applied to the bolts connecting the blade and the blade carrier as a tree is sheared, the blade carrier includes projecting backing plates fitted against opposite edges of the blade for transmitting force applied to the blade directly to the blade carrier.Field of SearchShear type | |
