The anticaries ingredients include aliphatic mono and dialdehydes having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, aliphatic monoaldehydes having from 6 to 12 carbon atoms, and polyaldehydes such as dialdehyde starch and dialdehyde galactomannan gum. These ingredients in concentrations of about 5 percent by weight or less have been found to effectively inhibit the growth and acid production of oral microorganisms and thereby reduce the incidence of dental caries.Other References
