At least four pistons fitted in said chamber perform discontinuous unidirectional circular motion about the center of the toroidal combustion chamber. At various stations about the torus, an air-fuel mixture is introduced between adjacent pistons, the adjacent pistons approach each other resulting in compression of the air-fuel mixture, the mixture is ignited, and gas expansion drives the adjacent pistons apart. The mechanical energy of the pistons being moved apart by the gas expansion is coupled through a drive shaft to the load. | |
