...that several people are credited with the invention of the flush toilet? Most people have heard of Thomas Crapper (1837-1910), the sanitary engineer who invented the valve-and-siphon arrangement that made the modern toilet possible. Another claimant to "the throne" was British inventor Alexander Cumming who patented a toilet in 1775. Then there's a nameless Minoan (a native of ancient Crete) who lived 4,000 years ago who supposedly was ahead of his time and created the first flush toilet!

Combine utilizing belt conveyor roller as an accelerator roll An accelerator roll assembly for combines wherein one of the accelerator rolls comprises a conveyor roller having a conveyor belt extending therearound. The improved accelerator roll assembly is particularly adapted for use in a combine including a thresh... | 06/23/1998
Distribution trough extensions for agricultural harvester The threshed material passing through the foraminous cage and concave of the processor section of the combine falls by gravity to a distribution auger in a trough at the bottom of the processor housing. The threshed material passes through a slot in the t... | 03/06/1990
Downwardly and rearwardly directed air stream for harvester with vertically offset accelerator rolls An axial flow combine employs a pair of counterrotating and vertically offset accelerator rolls to accelerate the threshed material from the threshing section downwardly and forwardly toward the grain pan of the cleaning section. A laminar flow air stream... | 12/09/1986
Axial flow combine with vertically offset accelerator rolls An axial flow combine (11) includes a processor (33) at an elevated position in a housing (63) providing adequate space between the processor (33) and the housing walls (64, 66, 62, 67, 68) to insure gravity movement of threshed material exiting the cage ... | 07/10/1984
Axial flow combine with single distribution auger An axial flow combine (11) includes a processor (13) at an elevated position in a housing (63) providing adequate space between the cage (34) and the front and rear housing walls (64, 66, 62, 67, 68) and to permit steep incline of wall portions 62, 67, 68... | 07/03/1984
Combine harvester A combine harvester includes a threshing unit, a pair of transverse contra-rotating distributor augers located downstream of the threshing unit with respect to the direction of flow of the product and arranged to receive the product leaving the threshing ... | 04/24/1984
Air baffle for harvester accelerator rolls The use of a baffle (61) spaces the horizontal cleaning air discharge a substantial distance below the accelerator rolls (32, 33) to substantially reduce passage of cleaning air to the threshing area (18). This in turn reduces the amount of dirty air disc... | 06/02/1981
Grain accelerator precleaner The threshed material leaving the threshing cylinder of a grain harvester or combine is accelerated into a transverse air stream by a pair of rolls. The rolls are disposed on parallel axes and are rotated at a relatively high speed in opposite directions ... | 02/15/1977
