Method and system for using a database and GPS position data to generate bearing data A method and system for providing a bearing from a vehicle to a transmitting station are described. The method includes accessing a database to obtain transmitter position information for the transmitter, obtaining vehicle position information based on a GPS signal,... | 09/23/2008
Wireless communication and beam forming with passive beamformers Wireless communication and beamforming is improved by depopulating one or more ports of a passive beamformer such as a Butler matrix and/or by increasing the order thereof. In an exemplary implementation, an access station includes: a Butler matrix having “M” an... | 01/31/2006
System for improved GPS accuracy using a sky map According to the invention, a system utilizing satellites of known locations produces a sky map containing quality values relating locations in the sky to the quality of signals received from those locations. The sky map reflects known variability in sign... | 12/11/2001
Conical omni-directional coverage multibeam antenna with parasitic elements An omni directional coverage multibeam antenna relief on a ground surface having simple conical shapes to provide beam steering is disclosed. One advantage of such a system is that the projected area is always constant and broadside to the intended direct... | 07/25/2000
Radiodirection finding method and apparatus using doppler effect frequency modulation Radiodirection finding method and apparatus using Doppler effect frequency modulation for measuring the bearing of a source transmitting a high frequency signal, wherein either on the reception side or on the transmission side, several antenna strands are... | 09/04/1990
Doppler VOR In a Doppler VOR, the phase of the carrier wave of the carrier signal must lie symmetrically between the phases of the carrier waves of the sideband signals. To monitor these phase relationships, the carrier signal received by the sideband antennas (1) is... | 02/28/1984
Device for supplying a radionavigation system of the Doppler VOR type and a Doppler VOR system comprising said device The device for supplying a Doppler VOR system comprises means for generating the sidebands of an amplitude modulation of a VHF carrier wave, the signals representing the sidebands being amplitude-modulated by a periodic voltage. The device essentially com... | 05/03/1983
Facility for monitoring the carrier-frequency and sideband signals radiated by a DVOR ground station A facility for monitoring in the near field, the carrier-frequency and sideband signals radiated by a DVOR ground station is provided. In a first embodiment the monitor antenna is located outside the circle in the near field, and a controllable phase shif... | 01/25/1977
Doppler VOR beacons A Doppler VOR beacon comprising a central antenna modulated with a reference wave and a ring of omnidirectional antennas radiating sidebands of a sub-carrier amplitude modulation of the carrier commutated around the ring of antennas to simulate a rotating... | 12/21/1976
Antenna system for Doppler VOR ground stations A method used to correct counterpoise distortion of horizontal patterns of antennas radiating horizontally polarized high frequency radiation is described and is applied to reduce undesirable amplitude modulation of the scanned carrier causing bearing err... | 07/27/1976
