...that one person who claimed to be the inventor of the television is Russian emigre Vladimir Zworykin? In 1929 David Sarnoff, founder of RCA, asked Zworykin what it would take to develop TV for commercial use. He said: a year and a half and $100,000. In reality, it took 20 years and $50 million! Before his death in 1982 at the age of 92, Zworykin said of his invention: "The technique is wonderful. It is beyond my expectations. But the programs! I would never let my children even come close to this thing."

Multi-resonant NMR coils A saddle coil for multiple tuned response is realized by a segmented sequence of first LC elements each tuned to exhibit a low impedance at ω1 and a second set of LC elements, each tuned to exhibit a low impedance at ω2, at least s... | 11/24/1992
High-Q RF filter with printed circuit board mounting temperature compensated and impedance matched helical resonators A helical filter is disclosed which includes a ground plane having microstrip transmission line segments to which a respective helical resonator coil is connected at the high impedance end thereof. A discrete capacitor is connected in parallel with each t... | 07/21/1987
Resonator comprising a coil formed of multiple layer alternately arranged conductive turns An electric resonator includes first and second pluralities of conductors which are disposed in side-by-side relationship to form a first layer of alternating first and second conductors. Additional layers of alternating first and second conductors are di... | 01/20/1987
Tuning systems on dielectric substrates A tuning system employs a specific resonant circuit which includes two electrodes confronting each other through a dielectric interposed therebetween. Each of the two electrodes has at least one bent portion to present a lumped-constant inductance and has... | 10/21/1986
UHF electronic tuner An RF input tuning circuit in a UHF electronic tuner uses a semicoaxial resonant cavity circuit which feeds amplifier and other tuning circuits not of the semicoaxial type, such as lumped constant or strip-line types.... | 05/12/1981
Impedance matched tuning device having image trapping circuit A tuning device including a conductive housing in which is suspended a dielectric substrate. A pair of first and second resonant circuits is disposed on the substrate in parallel with each other. Each resonant circuit is formed by an elongated conductive ... | 07/22/1980
Electronic tuning circuit having image trapping element A tuning circuit comprises a pair of identical resonant circuits each including a transmission line and a capacitive element, a coupling circuit associated with each transmission line to inject microwave energy into the resonant circuits and extract the t... | 07/22/1980
Electromagnetic resonators having slot-located switches for tuning to different frequencies In a waveguide resonator, either coaxial or noncoaxial, there are inserted spaced slots which establish inductances in series with the waveguide structure at the location of each slot. These slots tune the resonance of the waveguide cavity, which would ge... | 01/03/1978
