...that the video game, Pong, was invented by a guy who graduated at the bottom of his engineering class? Nolan Bushnell spent more time running the games at a local amusement park than he did on his studies at the University of Utah. His dreams of working for Disney's amusement empire were dashed when the company wouldn't hire him. Taking a boring job, Nolan daydreamed about electronic versions of popular games. He invented Pong, the first video game, and went on to found Atari Co.

High power liquid dielectric switch Method and apparatus for switching high power at high repetition rates. The apparatus is preferably a switch utilizing a pressurized flowing dielectric. The pressurized dielectric suppresses growth of dielectric breakdown byproducts, such as large bubbles and breakd... | 06/24/2008
High-voltage circuit breaker An electric high-voltage circuit breaker is provided with two coaxially arranged contact members, which are movable relative to each other, with one rated-current contact (5, 7) and one burning contact (5, 7) each. The rated-current contact (7) and burnin... | 06/24/1986
Isolating switch In this isolating switch, which is suitable for electrically isolating and connecting components of gas-insulated encapsulated switching stations under, at the most, low load conditions, the fixed contact member (1) is provided with a central trailing con... | 05/27/1986
Disconnect switch for high-voltage switching installation A switching assembly for a high voltage switching installation includes a tubular movable main switching contact in which is disposed an auxiliary switching pin. An elastic spring drive with a drive lever and a cocking lever is pivotably attached at an ou... | 12/17/1985
Compressed-gas breaker A compressed-gas breaker having a magnetic coil through which the breaking current flows, has two coaxial contact members which are movable with respect to each other along a central axis and have in each case one arcing contact. The arcing contacts are s... | 12/17/1985
Electric switch An electric switch having a tactile feel and capable of carrying high current without requiring the use of relays, the switch being resistant to arcing damage by effecting sequential making and breaking at different contact points.... | 10/01/1985
Disconnect switch A disconnect switch has a fixed tubular contact and a tubular contact movable into connection with the fixed contact. A movable auxiliary contact within the movable tubular contact can travel into connection with a stationary auxiliary contact on the fixe... | 09/03/1985
High-voltage disconnect switch A disconnect switch for high-voltage installations is disclosed. The switch includes a pair of hollow contacts, one of which is movable, disposed in a grounded metallic housing filled with compressed gas. A spring-loaded contact-breaking pin is provided i... | 04/24/1984
Grounding switch The present invention relates to a grounding switch having a fixed switch piece attached to an equipment part to be grounded and a switch piece displacable relative to the fixed switch piece by a drive. The switch pieces partially form a switch-piece over... | 01/24/1984
| 4421959 | Bridging contactor with main and arcing contacts A bridging contact structure, suitable for use in AC contactors and the like, is provided with double-break stationary main contacts, and with double-break stationary arcing contacts in parallel with the main contacts.
