...that while attempting to develop a super strong glue, 3M employee Spencer Silver accidentally developed a glue that was so weak it would barely hold two pieces of paper together? However, his colleague Art Fry needed the glue. Fry sang with his church choir and marked the pages of his hymnal with small scraps of paper that often fell out. He used Silver's glue to hold the papers in place. Today we call this invention Post-it Notes.

| 4172389 | Temperature compensated bridge circuit The voltage drops across a series-connected pair of strain gauges and arbitrary resistance are measured at zero and maximum stresses at three temperatures. The appropriate resistance for span compensation at the two extreme temperatures is then calculated... | 10/30/1979 |
| 4118933 | Bearing load indicator Pairs of strain gauges are symmetrically disposed on a bearing support structure and feed signals to indicating and/or recording devices to indicate bearing load conditions.... | 10/10/1978 |
| 4094189 | Micro-creepmeter This instrument is a portable field device that quickly determines microscopic creep velocity by measuring relative displacement between two objects connected by a metal wire. The device consists of a micro-creepmeter probe and recorder. The probe include... | 06/13/1978 |
| 4064744 | Strain sensorextensiometer A strain sensor or extensiometer with electrical output designed to measure relative displacements between two axially spaced points on a stressed structure comprising an elongated body with two end sections and a centrally located flexible beam extending... | 12/27/1977 |
| 4019377 | Elastomer strain gage A temperature compensating strain gage for measuring elongation of parent elastomeric material. The strain gage comprises an elongated elastomeric strap having the same or similar temperature characteristics as the parent elastomeric material, a clamp sec... | 04/26/1977 |
| 3971250 | Electret sensing medium having plural sensing units A sensing medium having two sensing units each formed of a layer of poled electret material that is coated on each planar surface with an electrically conductive plate, such sensing units being separated from one another by a thermal insulating layer.... | 07/27/1976 |
| 3967188 | Temperature compensation circuit for sensor of physical variables such as temperature and pressure A temperature compensation circuit for sensors of physical variables, such as temperature and pressure, employs an effective constant current source that is sensitive to ambient temperature and which has an adjustable thermal slope and an adjustable outpu... | 06/29/1976 |
| 3956927 | Strain gauge transducer apparatus Strain gauge transducer apparatus including circuitry for balancing current through a pair of strain sensitive semiconductor resistors is disclosed.
