Method and apparatus for the actuation of the cantilever of a probe-based instrument An electromagnetic drive causes a cantilever of a probe-based instrument to deform flexurally by transmitting a high frequency AC signal through an electromagnetic actuator located in the vicinity of the cantilever. The AC signal preferably is an RF carrier signal h... | 09/19/2006
Domain drag effect devices A domain drag effect stripline pattern of conductive magnetic bubble material deposited upon a substrate is located in a magnetic bias field preferably normal to the plane of the stripline. Magnetic bubbles can be propagated through the stripline in respo... | 12/09/1980
Gradientless propulsion of magnetic bubble domains Magnetic bubble domains are propagated in a magnetic medium in a desired direction using magnetic fields which have no spatial gradients. This is in contrast with conventional propagation techniques where magnetic overlays have to be used with applied mag... | 12/11/1979
Magnetic structures A magnetic structure having a high magnetic bubble mobility which has the property that magnetic bubbles can be transported in it at very high velocities while using comparatively weak driving fields, comprising a substrate having a (110) oriented deposit... | 02/06/1979
Optical storage disk system with disk track guide sectors A storage disk comprising at least one data track which is composed of spiral-shaped turns or concentrical turns, the data being arranged in the form of data blocks on the turns so that between the data blocks alternately a guide segment or a blank segmen... | 06/06/1978
Method and apparatus for the controlled generation of wall encoded magnetic bubble domains Two parallel conductors are positioned on top of a magnetic layer where bubble domains are to be coded. The two parallel conductors are positioned to form a gap therebetween of a particular size. An external in-plane magnetic field is applied to the magne... | 04/18/1978
Device operating with the displacement of magnetic domain walls A device operating with the displacement of magnetic domain walls and comprising a layer of a magnetizable material having an easy axis of magnetization perpendicular to the plane of the layer, in which layer magnetic domain walls can be produced, maintai... | 03/14/1978
Method for increasing the critical velocity of magnetic bubble propagation in magnetic materials The critical velocity at which magnetic bubbles can propagate within a matic material is increased by establishing an easy axis of magnetization within the material. This axis is either growth-induced or strain-induced. In one embodiment, the material ha... | 11/29/1977
Method and apparatus for controlled generation of wall topology in magnetic domains Magnetic domains with defined wall topologies are controllably generated from a domain having known characteristics. A "mother" bubble domain of a known wall state is generated by nucleation. The mother domain is stretched and split in the presence of a m... | 01/04/1977
Method and apparatus for the controlled generation of wall-encoded magnetic bubble domains A magnetic layer is exchange coupled to a bubble medium in an area where bubble domains are nucleated, and is used together with or without an externally applied in-plane magnetic field to controllably generate bubble domains with either one pair (S = 0) ... | 12/07/1976
Circular magnetic domain devices A circular magnetic domain device which includes a layer of a polycrystalline or amorphous uniaxial magnetic material having a single unique easy magnetisation direction substantially normal to a major surface thereof and crystallites of a maximum diamete... | 09/07/1976
Device operating with the displacement of magnetic domain wall A data processing device utilizing magnetizable media operating with the displacement of magnetic domain walls, in particular walls of "bubble" domains, which are propelled by fields which move walls with a speed which is as large as possible, and are ope... | 03/02/1976
Magnetic bubble read/write head Magnetic bubbles are employed to write and read digitized signals of audio, video and digital data in a magnetic medium, while circumventing the problems associated with high linear tape speed or rotary head motion. Writing is accomplished via the interac... | 02/03/1976
