...that two musicians were responsible for the invention of color print film? Fascinated by photography, Leopold Godowsky and Leopold Mannes worked together to produce an easy-to-use, practical color film. They worked full time as music teachers and gave concerts while experimenting during their off hours in Mannes' kitchen. Their success earned them full-time, well-paying jobs at Kodak and their efforts resulted in Kodachrome film, which was introduced in 1935.

NumberTitleIssue Date
4582276Lifting shock wave cancellation module
An aerodynamic structure which when included into the design of a supersonic aircraft provides the aircraft with a higher lift/drag ratio than has been obtainable previously in supersonic aircraft design. In a preferred embodiment, the aerodynamic structu...

4519560Airfoil for controlling refueling boom
An airfoil used in a ruddevator assembly for controlling movement of an aircraft refueling boom, where there are two airfoils (i.e. ruddevators) mounted to the boom, each at a dihedral angle of about 42°. Each airfoil has an outboard section, which is an...

4381091Control-effect enhancement of tiltable aircraft stabilizing member
An aircraft having, for example, a tailplane (4, 5) at least part of which is movable with reference to a fuselage (1) to effect control requires the control effect to be enhanced in a certain control position. Accordingly, fixed vanes (8, 9) are provided...

4334658Stalling aerodynamics of the Cessna models 150 and 152 series aircraft
A pair of metallic strips are provided for the improvement in the stalling aerodynamics of the Cessna Series 150 and 152 aircraft, especially during conditions which would otherwise generate an unintentional spin entry, followed by a fatal accident. The s...

4311289Modifications to jet aircraft having aft fuselage-mounted nacelles overlapping the wing assemblies
Modifications to a jet aircraft of the type having aft fuselage-mounted engine nacelles overlapping trailing edge portions of the aircraft's wings, wherein a channel area defined by the fuselage, wing, pylon and attached nacelle is shaped to prevent air f...

4284278Flying toy
A flying toy of the boomerang type having at least three airfoils, or wings, equiangularly spaced about a central vertical axis and extending horizontally outward from a center portion. Each wing carries at its outer end an annular-shaped wing stabilizer ...

4272043Fluid stream deflecting members for aircraft bodies or the like
Devices to reduce the drag experienced by aircraft and other travelling bodies, comprising sail-like members mounted on the body surface. These members project into the local stream that forms close to the surface during motion, and tend to divert that lo...

4067518Drag reducer for lift surface of aircraft
One or more aerodynamic bodies of preselected shape and placement are employed on the lower surface of an aircraft wing or other aerodynamic lifting surface for the purpose of reducing its drag. These anti-drag bodies singly or collectively provide a redu...

4046336Vortex diffusion and dissipation
Vortex diffusion means for an aircraft having lift structure rooted therein that extends outboard to a structure tip from which a discrete tip vortex develops when said tip is propelled through the air. A sub-wing extends from the tip of the lift structur...
09/06/1977
4017041Airfoil tip vortex control
Device for diminishing tip vortices in an aircraft. For the purpose of diminishing the tip vortices generated by aircraft there are provided retractable foils at or near the airfoil, as wing, tips in question and projecting upwardly and/or downwardly ther...
