Apparatus for, and method of, depositing a film on a substrate An electrical field between a positive anode and a negative target in a cavity and a magnetic field in the cavity cause electrons from the target to ionize neutral gas (e.g. argon) atoms in the cavity. The ions cause the target to release sputtered atoms ... | 08/12/2003
System for, and method of, irradiating article with x-ray beam A first support structure disposes articles relative to a radiation beam, preferably x-rays, to obtain an irradiation of the articles. A second support structure disposes articles relative to the beam and to the articles on the first structure to obtain a... | 03/04/2003
Transducer receiving voltage inputs, such as square waves, rich in harmonics A transducer member is made from a piezoelectric material (e.g. barium titanium) having a looped configuration and a gap in the loop and having properties of vibrating upon the introduction of an electrical voltage to the transducer member. A support memb... | 12/17/2002
Exercise unit A foot rest made from a suitable material (e.g. a polyolefin) may have, in cross section, a tear drop configuration defined by a progressively increasing width or may have a cylindrical shape in cross section. An aperture is provided through the foot rest... | 12/17/2002
Transducers, and methods of producing transducers, with cryogenically treated transducer members A transducer provides (a) increased magnitudes of vibrations without cracking and (b) increased power to the transducer, in response to alternating voltages, for producing transducer vibrations with increased magnitudes. A polycrystalline ceramic (e.g. po... | 12/10/2002
Assembly including an electrical connector and a pair of printed circuit boards An electrical connector includes a conductive casing and a conductive probe disposed within the casing. The probe may be in a concentric relationship with the casing. The probe is insulated from the casing as by a first insulating sleeve which may be disp... | 05/21/2002
Animal shelter A plurality of panels preferably made from a heat insulating material define an enclosure for a pet shelter. One of the panels has an opening for the pet to enter or exit the enclosure. The panels are disposed on a base member. Detents (e.g. hooks) on the... | 11/20/2001
Article irradiation system in which article transporting conveyor is closely encompassed by shielding material Articles are transported by a conveyor system in a loop from a loading area past a target region to an unloading area adjacent the loading area. A first side of the article is irradiated by a radiation source in the target region during the article moveme... | 09/04/2001
Terminal assembly and method of forming terminal assembly A primarily polycrystalline but partially amorphous electrical insulator can hermetically seal first and second spaced electrical terminals, one made from an anodized aluminum and the second made from a beryllium copper or Kovar or an alloy of beryllium, ... | 07/03/2001
Weighting system for sports balls and hitting implements Closure members are provided at the opposite ends of a hollow casing. Shock absorbers are confined within the casing by the closure members. A weight is disposed within the casing between the shock absorbers. The weight may be defined by a plurality of gr... | 07/03/2001
