...that several people are credited with the invention of the flush toilet? Most people have heard of Thomas Crapper (1837-1910), the sanitary engineer who invented the valve-and-siphon arrangement that made the modern toilet possible. Another claimant to "the throne" was British inventor Alexander Cumming who patented a toilet in 1775. Then there's a nameless Minoan (a native of ancient Crete) who lived 4,000 years ago who supposedly was ahead of his time and created the first flush toilet!

Dual pressure Euler steam turbine A turbine, including a rotor on a shaft, and having in combination stationary nozzles discharging steam at a first pressure or pressures thereby producing impulse forces on the rotor; internal passages in the rotor producing a pressure head increase in the discharge... | 07/17/2007
Variable phase turbine An axial flow turbine configured to accept different nozzles which are respectively compatible with different fluids (gas, liquid or mixture thereof). The turbine is compatible with different rotating loads, which can be cooled or lubricated using liquid derived fro... | 08/22/2006
High temperature heat pump A high temperature heat pump comprising a low temperature heat exchanger to produce vapor of a first fluid from heat transferred from a second fluid to a mixture of liquid and vapor of the first fluid; a compressor to increase the pressure and temperature of the pro... | 07/05/2005
Seeded gas-liquid separator and process A separation process, the steps that include: providing an expansion zone, flowing a gaseous fluid into and through the expansion zone, flowing a spray of liquid droplets into the expansion zone to mix with the gaseous fluid and produce nucleation sites, then expand... | 04/12/2005
Waste heat recovery system A waste heat recovery system comprising ducting to which hot gas is communicated, means to supply lower temperature diluent gas to the ducting, to mix with the hot gas, and produce a reduced temperature mixed gas stream, a vaporizer in communication with the ducting... | 06/01/2004
Centrifuge and cascade for the separation of gases A gas centrifuge operating to separate gases of differing chemical composition and molecular weight by a centrifugal force field. Such a centrifuge is operable to separate methane and carbon dioxide, and to produce torque, and a cascade of such centrifuges is operab... | 04/06/2004
