Disclosed is an amide compound represented by the formula (1) below, which has excellent plant disease controlling activity.

In the formula, X¹ represents a fluorine atom or a methoxy group; X² represents a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, an iodine atom, a C₁-C₄ alkyl group or the like; Z represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; and A represents an A¹-CR¹¹R¹²R¹³ group or A²-Cy group, wherein A¹ and A² each represents a single bond or the like, R¹¹ and R¹² independently represent a C₁-C₄ alkyl group, R¹³ represents H, a C₁-C₄ alkyl group or the like, and Cy represents a C₃-C₆ cycloalkyl group or the like.
